Hair day

Hi guysss!!! Todays been adventure filled, mostly with old sitcoms from iflix(Msia's version of netflix).
So the day started off with a heathy mcdonals breakfast of a sausage wrap, two hashbrowns and a steaming cup of milo. The only other thing i like about mcdonals other than their fancy mcflurry is their entire breakfast menu! I like their their hotcakes best to be honest! They come with butter spread and syrup and it's just yummy. My parents like their porridge and i think porridge is only on their Msian menu. To the whites porridge might mean oats, like the grain but here a breakfast porridge is the normal rice porridge with shreaded chicken and fried shallots.
Then we spent the afternoon driving to our real house in ipoh. Now i say real cause the other house is rented but this house is ours. Between both houses, there's an hour's worth of driving to cover. We were too lazy to get out under the sun to get lunch so we got take away laksa from a roadside stall. Laksa is a traditional Msian dish of really thick, wormy noodles in a spicy broth with a prawn paste base. It comes with shreads of fish, chunks of pineapple and a light dusting of cucumber and shallots. It's really more of a penang dish so to get the most authentic laksa, take the ferry ride over.
After lunch me and my dad went on this hunt to get a case for my tablet but they turned out to be rm200 which is a lot of money and im saving up for my haircut in two weeks and there's mother's day coming soon. The search was a bust as we couldn't find a cheap original one nor a fake that my tablet could fit into like a glove. Speaking of haircuts, my dear sister took a picture for me of my undercut that i had done two months ago. I would love to attach a picture to show you how fast the hair's grown but there's some complication to it.
For dinner we had a another type of noodle: pan mee which is a noodle that comes either with soup or dry with soysauce. I had the soup version of it which came with chicken slices, homemade fishballs, leafy greens, wood ear, and a mountain of fried anchovies. Needless to say, it was yumzzzzz.
After that we went to a nearby mall to get some buns for breakfast tomorrow and we came walking out of there with boxes of ice cream. Haha. We came home, ate our ice cream, and opened a bottle of moscato wine. Im a legit wine fanatic and my dad collects wine so we drank quite a bit today.
It's late and im feeling tipsy so i will see you all tomorrow. Byeee

Im in an orchestra?

helloooo you!! Today's been a pretty good day, I didn't have a plum for lunch but what I did have was a chiffon cake for breakfast so that totally compensates for the lack of plums. A relatively boring day today to be honest. We started off well, with my favourite subject: biology! We're at a chapter called- 'infectious diseases' and it's really long. We focus on cholera, HIV, TB and malaria and a big segment of it goes to how to treat it and of course vaccines were mentioned and then I thought of organisations I heard that are petitioning of the freedom of choice whether or not to get their kids vaccinated. Some reasons they use to back up their campaigning are conspiracy theories that 1) the government wants total control of the people so they inject things into your body that may have an advanced a technology that the medication can control your body and mind and you can be traced anywhere. Or 2)it's a big scheme for the government to earn money (cause who needs healthcare anyway). But the thing about not supporting the governments plan to get your money, is that when they - meaning the people who don't get the shots - get ill, they see a doctor to help them get better so anyways, they pay for that service but not the shots. Hypocritical much? Also there was this phony doctor who claimed that shots gave kids autism but some parents still do buy into that news.

Also another discovery I made was that the US does not have free or government provided healthcare! Apparently everything is privatized, including their jails. How strange! So everyone just relies of their insurance when they have a hospital bill to pay and if they can't afford an insurance policy, they're screwed! The people's solution seems to be to move to France where health care is free for all. Now, I know nowhere's perfect but I hear Denmark is as close as it gets. People living there are the happiest people alive! Their taxes are 70% of everything they earn but SO WHAT! They're happy to pay as their government takes care of them and the money all goes to providing free heath care, free education, free nursing homes and stuff like that.

Now it's been a year since GST was initiated in Msia and everything is taxed. Going out for a meal will set you back about RM10 as you pay 16% tax. Yes, the 6% was a lie. It's 16% and it's not helping the country as much as the government promised it would. Talking about money here makes me uncomfortable. Another day perhaps. I want to research on Msia's finance but I value my life for one thing.

School ended on an excellent note! I went for my saxophone lesson and it was so much fun. I have a super fun teacher who makes me laugh whenever I'm not turning red in the face from blowing into my reed and the sound my sax makes is just beautiful. I play the alto sax and my dear friend was nice enough to capture the picture for me. It was taken with my Samsung Tab S2 which has a camera quality of 8MP. Now, if I'm not mistaken I was in the midst of holding a C note.

Friends I promise a book review will be up shortly. It's dinner time now! Byeeee

Plum

'Sup friends!! Today was such a long day and I'm so glad it's over... wait. SNAP! There's homework to be done. LOL! Even though I'm a huge nerd, right now I'm sorta in that past-the-point-of-caring-mood.

The day started off with the most awkward assembly I had ever gone through with all the prefects having to stand up front on stage and read a lame pledge and we weren't even given prior notice that we'd be standing in front of the entire student body or I'd have worn my contacts today. The weather's so effing hot and humid that I was sweating like post-marathon level.

After that I was pretty fine, lessons were easy - typical. I ignored all the cows sitting in class with me obviously and shame there wasn't a lab session today or else I'd have gotten to sit with my best friend( the only other non-cow).

For lunch I had my second favourite fruit, a PLUM! Really glad my mom packed it for me cause I love plums so much. Then I found out that dark chocolate in excess was poison like WHAT! cause in the past month I ate three dark chocolate bars my dad brought home from Spain. Then my bestie said this really random question: what makes salt salty, the sodium ions or the chloride ions? We didn't research much but we decided it was most likely the sodium. I would like a really science-y reason though. Then we played with my new tab that I've been bringing to school. I'm not being sponsored or anything but there's this app that I am loving right now called 'Brilliant'. By now most of you must know what a big fan of puzzles and riddles I am and this app is just brilliant! There's math, logic and etc. puzzles to and my friend and I had such a fun time doing it.

I couldn't go home immediately after school today cause I am a student tutor. I tutor 12 year old kids English once a week for an hour after school. It's a fun experience teaching kids and my mom's a teacher so I know what's teaching like. Unlike peer tutors overseas, we don't get paid or anything in return but the joy of sharing knowledge to those brave enough to seek help. Not that I mind though, I've been doing tutoring sessions for 2 years now.

Okay I know I promised a book review but that's gonna have to wait for a bit guys. Sorry. Catcha tomorrow though. Byeee

The martian

hey everybody!! I know it's been a long time since I last updated my blog but I've been superb busy with school!
So at school last week I did this Beaver puzzle competition thing and it was kinda fun! But because of it, I had to miss my first saxophone class of the year BUMMER! Goes without saying though, that I super love puzzles and riddles so I hope to win something. The sort of questions they ask are like...hmm see for yourself at their website: http://beaver.my/
I did it for the second time this time round and it was honestly easier that last year, wonder why...
MAIGAWD so many ellipses

As promised, here is my review on THE MARTIAN:
Summary: a quirky astronaut/botanist/engineer went to Mars with other astronauts but they left him behind on their hurried departure during a deadly storm, thinking he was dead. BUT NO. He just had to survive and the rest of it is just how NASA discovered he was alive and their monkey-style efforts to save him. You'll have to read it yourself if you wanna know if he survives or not.
okay fine he does.
Honestly, it was a pleasant read! I literally couldn't drag my eyes away form it. But I was captivated mostly because I'm a big science nerd and I wanted to find something that the writer got wrong in the science behind the story but he did his research well. I commend him for that. Something I've got to say though, there were parts of the story that were meant to be funny like making the stupidity of some NASA people amplified times 873286657556343894 but it's kinda mean and I'm pro US. GO AMERICA!
Plus, the first line of the story: 'I'm so fucked'. Really? Okay. I did laugh at that.

And guys I finaly bought a new tablet! It's a Samsung Tab S2 8.0. I FREAKING LOVE IT. It's got a great camera, great memory, great screen. A set back though, is it doesn't have a stylus which surprisingly was criteria number one for me when i was looking for a tablet. I'm a student and I thought I needed a stylus( still way cool) but i realised i could do without it. It cost me RM1699 and worth every dollar. For more specs visit gsmarena.com

It's my bedtime now and I'll see you guys soon! catch my next book review on 'The Lie Tree' . sweetdreams!

Monday 11 April 2016

hello everybody! heads-up: im not going to bother with perfecting my punctuation in this post so if you have chronic OCD punctuation style LOOK AWAY NOW!

As promised so long ago, here is an update on my yoga lessons

TADAAA ! not even sure what this pose is called actually but the yoga tips on pintrest shows this to be all the hype yoga should be about. im not having paid yoga class if youre wondering. theyre really hard to come by on ipoh so thank you internet, youtube and my own determination!

And websites that help me through high school. okay before that, i went to a private internation school in kampar to avoid the brainwashing syllabus the government thinks is flawless but helloooo the people know better. at least most do. so i did a cambridge syllabus: igcse and took 8 subs : math english bahasa malaysia additional math english literature biology chemistry and physics! and hello world! I am a straight A student.
I mostly visited forums when i had questions
www.thestudentroom.co.uk
yahoo answers
prezzie
https://www.desmos.com/calculator
www.enotes.com
www.shmoop.com
there's many more but they can wait teehee

more important links i need to share are how to handle your mental shit in high school. in highschool i attended private counselling sessions with my school counselor for two years to deal with my depression and fear of rejection and it worked well so thanks Ms. may

why i became depressed was I had this constant fear of what people think of me and how to fit in. see where i went to school everyone was loaded. my friend's parents had businesses, drove expensive cars and they themselves had an array of Apple products, nike clothing and the like. sad to say didnt have that and the only way i managed to afford private school was with my mom's employee discount. but it was good in a way cause it gave me a drive to excel academically and excel i did!

now if youre depressed here's what you do: DONT KILL YOURSELF. know that those little shits are going to hell and you'd win in the end.

now you know how great life is... look forward to my next post! its a review of this books ive been reading called the martian! yes like the book version of the movie! see you then

Sunday 10 April 2016

Hi, hi world!! I remember promising different content in my previous blog post but I've been busy and I think what I want to talk about now makes far more interesting content!

Yesterday I took the train to KL as I said I would and it was a pretty normal journey. What was cool though was the big TV up front played two Harry Potter movies and everybody who knows me knows I lovelovelovelove the HP series!!! (I'm a Ravenclaw btw)!!

I reached KL at about 12pm and then mom said, 'we're getting lobster at Manhatten's Fish Market, ya'. And I went, 'AHHHHHHHHHHHH AHHHHHHH YEAAAAHHHH'. Another fact about me is I lovelovelove seafood! So we had our lobster with some spicy muscles and just as we were about to leave, the waitress brings a humongous crab to the table next to ours and mom's all, 'We're ordering that!' Turns out it's called a French crab and it's the size of a fully grown rabbit. Look:

Gorgeous isn't it?! I liked the crimson red colour of its shell and the meaty body! YUMZ

We got my favourite beverage:
If you're in the US right now going 'meh -.- ' then you should start appreciating Arizona more cause these things are really hard to get here but it's so good and the design of the cans are just immaculate! Anyways I'll be in US starting next year so I'm all for Hillary Clinton to be president!

Then off to 'Bath & Body Works'. Again, if you're white going 'meh' you should stop being ignorant and see how messed up it is here that soap costs RM 65. If you wanna see me happy then just send me craters of BBW products haha! Why it costs so much? 1)the currency exchange rate is just *pauses and vomits blood*. 2)everybody loves imported stuff.

Later that night, off to Paradigm mall! There was a sale at Cotton On but I was really not in the mood for changing rooms but being a CO fan I couldn't not leave a sale without checking it out and got a cute grey tank for RM15.

Also remember in my previous posts I said I loved M&S...
Taadaa!!! All time favourite sweet yo!!! I got some other stuff too like their blueberry puffs, tea infusions and their yummy lemonade AHHHH!! I'm such a happy kid!

And that's day 1. Day 2 was a lot more easy going. We went to 1Utama!! Legit the mall was hugeeee!! The goal of the day was to eat as much as we could and we did exactly that. Starting with OysterKing, we had a popular Malaysian dish of fried oysters in egg with a sweet chili sauce and fried noodles with lala!! YUMZ
Then we had cendol at a restaurant called Teochiew Cendol and it looked fancy af but honestly it was like 'meh'. I mean in Ipoh there's plenty of roadside cendol stalls that sell the exact same thing for a third of the price. Come on humanity!
Then we ate a bunch of other things but I just have to mention my first try of MooCow frozen yoghurt!
I had a blackcurrent froyo and it was YUMZZ!

Currently I'm in kampar and I missed being in KL with all it's sky scrapers and office buildings. Another thing about KL is there's so many 'types' of people! I get really excited and intrigued when I see whites cause by default I think: 'what are you doing here? where you come from, life is a whole lot cooler!'. The culture diversity is honestly really cool to see and that foreigners are actually interested in this place makes it not so sucky. HAHAHA I just made a word.

Friday 8 April 2016

Hi, ya!! Today has been such a productive day and it all started with me waking up at 10am (super mega early by my standards). I remember sleeping late last night cause I was totally engrossed in this John Green book - An Abundance of Katherines...not TFIOS- and I couldn't sleep without finishing it for the 10338646 time that day.
It's about a whimpy, dorky boy named Colin who goes on a road trip with his fat, Muslim friend(his only friend), to get over him getting dumped for the 19th time by a girl named Katherine. And like every predictable story, he manages to find the perfect girl in the end who shockingly is not named Katherine but had an ex-boyfie named Colin.

But I liked it!!

So I had my day started with a 'mamak' breakfast of 'roti canai' and dahl. Honestly my ideal breakfast item. It's dough rolled round and flat and then fried over a hot pan like the one westerners flip their burgers on. HAHAHAHAH! Dahl is just a bean sauce boiled with veggies not different from broth, just it's a booger yellow colour,

Here's an explanation/ translation in Bahasa for my people:
Roti canai adalah doh yang sudah dibentuk bulat dan nipis dan digoreng atas kuali rata. 'Dahl adalah kuah kacang dimasak dengan sayur-sayuran, tak banyak beza dengan sup, kecuali warnanya agak pelik.

Then I moved on with my school work and had fried salmon for lunch. Then I had a brain child: what if I were an ambassador of something...? So turned to trusty ol' Google for help and had these cool links
https://www.lyft.com/ambassador
https://www.google.com/edu/resources/programs/student-ambassador-program/
https://prezi.com/ambassadors/
http://www.peopletopeople.com/index.html

now haven't gotten to thoroughly immerse myself in details but I'll come to that.

For dinner I helped mom make Shepard's pie which kinda looks like Mark & Spencer's microwave lasagna but tastes equally as good. I'm a total M&S fan here!!

So that's all from today! I'll be taking the train to Kuala Lumpur tomorrow to meet my dad!! How Fun!! I LOVE THE CITY!

If I have the time perhaps on the train tomorrow I'll be posting updates of my yoga practices and share a few links that saved my life as a high school student last year

Wednesday 6 April 2016

Hey everyone! So last night I completed the first project I gave myself for this term break I'm on. I did a 1000 piece puzzle in 4 days TAADAAAAAAA!!

I've done many before when I was a wee baby in primary school but I haven't found the time to do one in like the past three years with Olevels and whatnot. It's really fun to do honestly plus the sense of accomplishment after it is like *illustrates fireworks with my hands*. A few challenges: sitting crossed legged on the floor for 12 hours a day hurt like hell and my eyes kept tearing up from my refusal to blink in case I missed a piece I was looking for.
Now that it's finish I'm left to wonder if I should frame it up and keep it.

The remaining projects I have for myself are all school based so it'll be pretty boring to talk about teehee.

But there's one more thing I've been thinking of working on and it's to do with establishing my youtube channel! Any tips or help of any sort will be appreciated :) Also, I need to know my cameras hahaha.

On another note, I've been thinking of buying a tablet and let's see how it goes.

I'll be in KL this weekend and RIDING THE TRAIN!! AHH SO MUCH FUN!! Have a fun-tastic dayyyy byeeee

Monday 4 April 2016

Hello world!! Greetings!! I'm Susanna Ooi HuiEn but the majority of my friends call me by my cute nickname -Sue.
