my takeaway from School 2017 kdrama

hey all! today is a highly anticipated day for us kdrama fans because... the finale of SCHOOL 2017 was aired today. i watched it on a couch at a hairdressers because it was available on VIU while i was waiting for sissy to get her bangs done and i couldnt wait to watch it.
if youve been a reader for long, do you remember how much i loved SCHOOL 2015? i went crazy over yook seungjae and nam joohyuk because they were most cool people ever!!! ahhhh!!! i had really high expectations for this continuation of the SCHOOL series and it definitely lived up to my expectations.
the leading couple, Ra eun ho and TaeWoon? THE PERFECT CAST! if im honest, initially i was a bit put off by the fact they looked obviously not high school age but i became so happy with the storyline i decided to fully enjoy the drama.
all the actors are playing student aged 18 but taewoon's real age is actually 27. he's super handsome with abs and a strong jawline and with multiple CHARMS.
here's the plot:
Eunho is an aspiring cartoonist with really bad grades so teachers tell her that she has no future as she isnt smart nor rich. she gets caught one day while sneaking into the teachers' office to steal her sketchbook that was confiscated. while she's in there, she's shocked to find a mysterious person in a black hoodie setting test papers on fire. hearing footsteps, he escapes out the window but she gets caught by a teacher and is sentenced to a disciplinary hearing and desperately tries to catch the actual bad guy to clear her name. when getting her sentence during assembly, a drone was flown in the hall, bearing the image of the principal with a big 'X' marked center, giving the 'hero' nickname X.
with her name cleared, she carries on her school life and befriends high school director's son, Taewoon. this was seungjae's character in SCHOOL 2015 and he did such a good job too! as time passes, more action happens with X, angering the school and they make Eunho a scapegoat, blaming her and giving her the punishments. around episode 10, she and taewoon get all sweet and eventually start dating. Yippie!! he tells her he is X but instead of turning him in, he and her become accomplices and they do heroic deeds, righting the wrongs of the school, exposing corruption and such. super raging, the school actually does find proof that Eunho is X and expels her without ratting out on taewoon. disobeying her, he confesses that he is X and attempts to get her out of her punishment but it didnt work. eventually he makes a deal with his dad to not expose secrets of the school and agreeing to study abroad in exchange for allowing Eunho to come back to school.
i also super love the background characters who eventually join in their effort as X.
1)Oh SaRang. she is Eunho's best friend and together they get bad grades. her mom is the school's cleaning lady but she is not ashamed and is super proud of her mom. she doesnt expect anything from her mom, doesnt dare to dream or have any ambition for herself but only wishes to make a better life for her mom.
2)Song DaeHwi. doesnt his name sound familiar? Dae Hwi is a member in popular idol group Wanna One who won in the competition Produce 101 season 2. this song daehwi however is the top student in eunho's class, ranking 1st and being class president. he lives with his alcoholic mom who runs a salon that doesnt make money. he resents being poor and works hard to make up for it and earn respect.
the storyline is great and i highly recommend this drama if you want something cute and innocent. cute and innocent are two words that i'd like to always use when i have to describe myself. my mom however, always gets mad when she hears 'cute' but i choose not to be affected by it. i have to be me even if it means going against her and being super cutesy. throughout the whole drama, the leading couple never kissed which i really love. they had one cheek kiss but that doesnt count. there was only one kiss scene but that was between eunho's teacher and his lady so they are adult roles so it's okay and it wasnt given much attention. i hate drama's with too much make out.
the focus was on how much eunho and taewoon cared for each other. like genuinely cared. he said this a lot in the drama, 'i'd do anything to protect her dream'. her dream was to get into university and become a cartoonist. he did so much to help her achieve it like he promised himself he would. that was amazing. it was very mature of them, (acting) 18 year olds. im going to choose my words carefully here, this is what i think love is: it's love when youre happy watching your love one being happy. it is in perfect alignment with the drama. i didnt know this before and honestly i am learning so much about growing up by watching all this drama's eventhough my initial reasoning was just to learn the language. yes of course i can speak little korean now given the amount of drama's i watch. i watched W-Two World the other day and i liked it. now i am following the drama Strongest deliveryman. both of this drama's have something similar to School 2017. keywords: cartoonist and motorcycles.
my takeaway from School 2017 is that you must never give up on your dreams. regardless what the mean people in school or outside of school say, you just have to protect your dreams and i really relate to Eunho. just like Eunho i have a loving family who supports my dreams and will do whatever they can to help me achieve them. i also have my two little nuggets, my best friends from highschool, who also support my dreams and encourage me. however unlike eunho, i have not yet found my taewoon. actually i have encountered many umm... inverse of taewoons? like the evil haters who always trash about my dreams. i realise that all the haters i have ever met are guys as in male. take a lesson from me so guys, please try to be more like girls. no hate.
i saw a missing cat poster this morning and that gives me an idea. i should make a poster saying 'WANTED: A GUY WHO WANTS TO PROTECT MY DREAMS' haha that would be funny.
